I illustrate in ink and watercolour
with no undo button.
I tend to draw whatever catches my eye, whether it’s a familiar face, a place packed with memories or anything else that stays with me. A piece might simply begin with something I want to see on paper, but more often with the question: ‘Could you paint this for me?’ Either way, each starts as a one-of-a-kind original, made to earn its spot on the wall.

I’m quite proud of these

Hill Dickinson Stadium – Home of the excellent Everton FC.

Sully – A lovely Staffy and Kayleigh’s beloved son.

Bob Mortimer – One of my comedy heroes, painted purely because I wanted to.

The Furdressers – A Liverpool dog-grooming salon entrusted with Sully’s pedicures.

Behind the drawings
Shimmus Studios is me, Seamus, working in a front room full of drawings, a growing stack of paintings and Maggie, my palette-side pooch, never far from my feet.
Got something you’d like me to paint?
If you have any ideas that you’d love to see in ink and watercolour, whether they’re pets, people or meaningful places, I can make it for you.

A look at whatever I’m currently struggling to draw, paint or coax into shape.
My last piece was The Furdressers – a dog grooming salon based in Liverpool. This snap was taken after the inking stage and before I put paintbrush to paper.
I share more regular updates on each individual project over on Instagram.
Have something worth putting on paper?
If you think I might be the person to put it there, I’d love to hear from you.
